Artist Statement All my life I have been interested in how the arts affect society and how society affects the arts. In 2000, I began pursuing a masters degree in social work for practical reasons. I was looking for a new career where I would feel that I was contributing something positive to society. I wanted to contribute to positive social change through social justice. To my surprise, during my studies, I rediscovered new ways to express my artistic self. From this experience, I could see how video/film and photography has and will continue to affect social change and I wanted to bring my art to that realm as part of this continum. I want to use my photography and my video productions to bring my perspective to the world at large and see what happens. I finished my degree in 2003. In 2004, I registered by small venture as Lighthouse Films because lighthouses provide a beacon and guidance to safety. I think art can act as a beacon and guide to our highest selves and make the world a better place for all of us.
