Marcia Baker, Rangelely, Maine
Member Since March 2008
Artist Statement Baker's energetic and vibrant paintings represent her connection with the woods and coast of Maine. She is an avid ecologist and sportsperson. Favorite outdoor pastimes, like kayaking, canoing, fly-fishing are woven into stories. Sporting images of fly-fishing, alpine- or cross-country skiing, upland bird-hunting, are captured from adventures with her husband. Yet, wandering in a lupine field prortrays moments of peacefulness. Her paintings are inspired by her adventure trips to the Amazon River, Alaska, the jungles of Ecuador, Belize and Newfoundland. Her hope is "to pass on those inspiring moments" to you!

Marcia Baker is also a pyschotherapists and self-taught artist. She resides with her husband, two dogs, and two cockatiels in a mountain pond in W. Maine.

She has studied with Paul Geoge, Carlton Plummer, Carol Sebold Karlyn Holman and Skip Lawrence, all AWS. She has won Best of Show at the annual Freeport Art Club Exhibit, 3rd place at the Westbrook Fine Arts Gallelry Minature Art Show in Dec. 2007. She regularly receives awards for her sporting paintins at the Maine State Sportsman Wildlife Show. Her website is marciabaker. com.
