Description Left-hand side of title page from a 1922 reprint of a biography from Everyman's Library, published by J. M. Dent and Sons Ltd. in London, and E. P. Dutton in New York. Illustration by Reginald Knowles, in the Arts and Crafts style, with handsome, intricately entwined floral border. The quotation is from John Milton's 'Areopagitica', and it reads: 'A good book is the precious life-blood of a master spirit, embalmed and treasured upon purpose to a life beyond life.' This title page was used for the Biography category of the early editions of the Everyman's Library.
