Description For a brief period in the 1960s, Pierre Clementi was the hippest of the hip in European cinema. He worked with some of the most high profile directors of the time, including Luis Bunuel, Pier Paolo Pasolini, and Bernardo Bertolucci. His is a face that is hard to forget: Praeternaturally handsome, yet always covering up extreme and often ugly emotions. This still was taken from Bertolucci's film 'Partner', and perhaps I have depicted Clementi as a bit more docile than he ever was; however, I felt that if I didn't draw him my efforts would be somehow incomplete due to his singular appeal.
Anya Ciccone, Chicago Member Since May 2011 Artist Statement I am a self-taught artist who specializes in portraits. I can spend hours on one face alone! People and their expressions are an endless source of inspiration for me.
I look at art as a process and a concentration exercise, and I hope to convey this in my work. I hope you like interacting with the work as much as I love interacting with it myself.
