Jonathan Ball, Cardiff Member Since January 2008 Artist Statement illustrator and graphic designer. inspired by lobrow art forms such as cartoons, retro video games, urban art and cute monsters, I enjoy creating fantasy worlds and characters in vibrant colours and settings.
In these prints and in my online potrfolio you'll find such creatures as one eyed monsters, gigantic robots, cute pandas, pirates, sea monsters, singing serpents, angry clouds and talking mushrooms.
I also create parodies of well known video games such as super mario and pacman, and also love to reinterpret popular cartoons and have made homages to these in my art work, I mix these up with contemporary urban, lowbrow and retro styles.
You will find the occasional 3d illustration amongst my work as I continue to develope my style using new technologies and illustration techniques. I employ blender, a open source 3D progame in my 3D designs. for my other work i often use adobe illustrator together with photoshop, and also love using marker pens and pencils for my hand drawn art.
