Artist Statement I began taking photographs seriously after a good friend of mine saw some of my "point and shoot" images from a vacation trip in 1993...he said he had a couple of old cameras in his closet that his father had left to him and I could have either one, as they were no longer being used. One of them was a Nikon F3! I learned quickly how to technically use the camera, then started focusing on the artistic aspects by enrolling in color photography classes at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Special Studies, and two years later earned my Certificate in Color Photography.

Having always been an avid outdoorsman, naturally my subject matter is nature in all of its subtle and glorious beauty. I particularly enjoy macro photography of plants and flowers, as it takes the viewer into the image to see details they have generally overlooked, stepped over, or simply never stopped long enough to fully enjoy the beauty in the detail. My landscape images are particularly important to me, as they are reminders of all the great places where I’ve been fortunate enough to stand and capture a moment in time.

I hope that my images will show others those special moments as well.
