Renaissance Art – Italian, Early Renaissance Art Prints at Imagekind
Renaissance art, in all forms and places of origin, marked a rebirth of culture,
ideas, and expectations. Within the well-known
Italian Renaissance art period, encompassing
Early Renaissance art and High Renaissance art, the important aspects
of this transformation remained the same. Creators of Renaissance art were interested
in new forms of thinking, passion, invention, and exploration of the cultures they
were representing.
Although one of the most important aspects of Renaissance
art was a new perspective in the way paintings were created and the way
they were viewed, many amazing pieces of sculpture and architecture were being formed
as well. Some of the most famous, beloved, and intriguing pieces of artwork came
out of these time periods and in mass amounts. Even today, most people know who
Leonardo da Vinci was and something about his contributions to Renaissance art.
Sandro Botticelli, Michelangelo Buonarroti, and Donatello are also among the most
well-known of the many Italian Renaissance artists and each brought their own ideas
and creativity to the world.
Renaissance art showed many ideas and environments, yet there were a few things
that most of the well-known artists spent much time depicting. Religion and realism
of the human form seemed to be foremost in the minds of these artists as they painted
or sculpted. All of the artists mentioned above created many images showing religious
scenes or relating religious stories from legend or the Bible. New techniques involving
drafting and sketches were also created to make creating the human body more realistic.
Because of the multitudes of artists and beautiful pieces of artwork from these
time periods, many art galleries, such as Imagekind, retain pieces of Renaissance
art in their collections. Some of these may be religious scenes and many others
are intricately detailed portraits showing off the Renaissance techniques at perfecting
ideas of the human form. All, however, show the values that were important at the
time of the Renaissance, the rebirth of amazing culture and art.
