Artist Statement Memories, like photographs, fade with time. Byron, Paula and their daughter Amanda began Ellis Photography in 1995 as a commercial venture to promote preservation of treasured family photographs. Anyone can copy a photograph, but it takes a personal touch to preserve treasured memories.

As time went on, we began sharing our own memories from travels in and around Louisiana through print sales at local galleries. We created a website (http://GoEllisPhoto.com) as a means to preserve and share our memories through our photographs. We have tried to make this a photographic site with an emphasis on the preservation of nature and historic memories.

Through the medium of photography in both film and digital forms we have attempted to preserve fleeting images of nature, the beauty of flowers, majestic mountains, and wild animals. Re-enactments of the actions of past cultures from the Civil War, Renaissance, and native American Pow-Wows capture the essence of times gone by. Images of historic architecture in plantation homes and historic churches of the old South, New Orleans Cemetaries, and their statues are captured in a split second and recorded for future sharing over and over again.

These captured memories remain long after the fires, floods, and hurricanes take their toll on the frail structures.
