Artist Statement I have over thirty years of art making and teaching experience. My art path at this time, is oil painting and drawing.
My love of landscapes and wildlife set the stage for my interest in plein air painting. Plein air sharpens my senses and keeps me vigilent to what I see in front of me. When I paint plein air, I am always in a state of awareness of the changes of shapes, color, and of course the light.
My abstract oil paintings are usually architectual size. They are my inner landscapes. I use color, heavy texture, and markings. By drawing over the painting and then layering more painting over the drawing until it tells a story.
Drawing was my first love, and is still my closest friend.
I hope you enjoy my artwork as much as I enjoyed making it.
