Artist Statement Started off taking photos when I was in Jr High. In the beginning the love of photography had more to do with the darkroom. I loved putting the film on the spools and then pouring in the developer and the rest of the chemicals. The enlarger and developing the paper was even better! You could actually watch your black and white photos "appear" in the developer!!

I worked in a photo store in highschool doing customer color and black and white developing. In college however I got into the television side of things and that became my career. Hoisting a video camera every day covering news and sports was fun, but when I came home I didn't really want to take that many photos. Not to mention television pays nothing and rolls of film and developing them cost money.

Fast forward ten years and I was out of the television game and working in marketing. My darling bride and I went to Spring Training every year and she complained that the little point and shoot she used didn't bring the players in close enough. The next year for Xmas the bowling ball named Homer (alias a Canon Digital Rebel XT) with a 70-300 lens came into our home. Technically it's my wife's camera since I bought it for her... but it quickly became "our" camera and is now "my" camera.

Digital photography brought me back to my love of photography. Taking digital images reduces the cost of film and developing so I take a lot more images. I enjoy doing it and if I make a little money along the way to feed the habit (new camera bodies, lens, gear...) so be it.
