Artist Statement Successive Moments of Now - Remixed

As a long time graphic designer I've always been fixated on visuals. I remember images. Damn near everything.

And I occasionally take pictures of events. Lots of people shots, the usual stuff. But more often I just notice the relationships of objects and things. Those are the pictures I like to compose and shoot. I now have a huge library of them.

To me, art at its best is evocative. I often wonder why people do the art they do. What does it mean? Why do they do it?

Me, I always marvel at the natural order of things. And sometimes that order triggers something. A feeling, a notion, a memory.

So when a newspaper horoscope came along that told me to do something about it, I did.

Digital Collages.

Why? Well, although I can paint and draw, I do art all day long. Collage is quick. And digital lets me re-use and re-size things. No glue. And the final piece is never really final. Endless do-overs if you will.

Instead of found images from other people's art or published imagery, I use my own. I looks at images in my image library until something leaps out as a natural combination. Maybe add a new bit, a bit of color, a shape, until it becomes evokes a response. I like it.

So there you go. Hope you like one enough to buy it. I don't need validation, but it sure is nice.
