Current Gallery: folkandnarrativeart ( piece)
Many of my friends have tried, over the past few years to come up with a descriptive name for my art. Words like 'Funky', 'Folky', 'Naive', 'Primitive', 'Untaught', 'Self-taught', and my personal favorite, but not really a name "Grandma Moses on meds". I usually call it Narrative Art because it tells a story, the story of my growing-up years between the ages of 9 to 21. Those years were spent living on The Danforth in Toronto between the years of 1936 until I married a local boy and moved to Scarboro where an entirely new story opened up for me and is becoming a kind of second volume of painted memories which are also included in this gallery. They are two distinct times in my life. One is "Growing Up In Toronto in the 1930s and 40s". The other "Happily Ever After". Look them over. Enjoy! And let me hear from you.
