Current Gallery: vision-collection ( piece)
I began the Vision Collection during the fall quarter of my sophomore year at Principia College. I was taking zoology, but no art classes, so I started drawing animal eyes out of my textbook. I did the first three eyes that quarter. I noticed that if you look close enough at nature, you don’t have to invent abstract art. It’s right there, waiting for you to see it. I tried to draw a broad mix of species – you will find mammals, amphibians, birds, reptiles, and even an insect and an arachnid. After finishing 15 eyes by the time I graduated from Principia College in 1998, I began to wonder who is really the observer.
