Welcome to my Bridges Gallery.

I greatly admire the achievements of the engineers who design and build bridges and viaducts. These fascinating structures provide us with vital communication links and they also have to withstand the forces of nature.

Bridges are built to span a river or waterway, gorge, valley, railway, road or other obstacle and may carry pedestrians, a road, railway or in the case of an aqueduct, a waterway. There are several basic types of design and these then have many other variations, with each one being unique. Some bridges have stood for hundreds of years.

This gallery is to show a few of the many interesting or unusual bridges that I have photographed. Where possible, I have included the bridge in a landscape setting rather than let it be just a record shot.
