DescriptionThe ATLAS Hotel has been a visual fixture in Cape May ever since I can remember. The retro cheesy plastic block ATLAS sign (you're only seeing the bottom "S" in this shot) has held it's ground in a town resurgent with preserving gingerbread architecture and centuries old woodwork. Interestingly, the longer this sign and establishment holds onto its kitschy chic, the better chance they have to survive. So as I was making the early rounds to get my coffee, it struck me how cool the neon sign looked against the backdrop of the rising sun. I like the way the "Closed for the Season" letters are barely hanging on and almost unreadable. Shot: 6:10am (EST).
M. Longfellow, Cape May Member Since April 2007 Artist Statement Thank you for visiting my Cape May photo galleries. I am thrilled to offer these fine art prints of my photographs through the amazing ImageKind service (stands and applauds!).
My Photography Focuses on Cape May, New Jersey As this country's first seashore resort, Cape May is quite literally an American original. This beautiful village by the sea features centuries old Victorian architecture and spectacular landscapes and natural beauty that attracts world class photographers. My goal is to capture images beyond the usual shots of gingerbread facades and orange sunsets, as so much of Cape May's heart and soul lies just beneath the surface of the familiar. I hope you enjoy your look through the galleries and find that perfect image as a beautiful gift, or for display in your home or office. I've used many photos that you see here in ImageKind to promote our Cape May Guest House that's been in our family since 1851!
Fun Interview Oh, and be sure to check out my interview with the very talented Andrew Gibson on his photography and writing website. He interviews me and asks how I've come to have such great success on Imagekind. I hope the interview is helpful.
