Gary Curtis, Sunnyvale, Texas
Member Since January 2012
Artist Statement Gary was born in St. Louis, Missouri but spent his formative years growing up in Cooperstown, New York. He became interested in photography in his early teens. Over the ensuing years he also painted watercolors & oils, sculpted, and sketched. He always seemed to have a creative energy needing to express itself. Gary considered landscape architecture as a career as he planned for college but instead ended up in corporate life. After years working for several large corporations, early retirement gave him the opportunity to pursue the dream of starting his own photography business. Gary considers himself more of an artist than a photographer. A digital camera and software are the tools he uses to create his art. He is self taught and focuses more on the artistic side of photography than the technical side. Traveling and capturing glimpses of nature in his images are what he enjoys most. While many photographers believe in capturing nature in its actual state, Gary likes to create his vision through the use of image editing software. Creating an image that is striking in its color or composition are his primary goals to bring enjoyment to viewers. All subjects that have a visual stimulation for Gary are what he captures as an image. You will find abstracts, flowers, animals, and scenic vistas in Gary’s subjects on his website.
