Lisa McLaughlin, Liverpool, NY Member Since January 2009 Artist Statement Lisa takes the road less traveled. She studied art at Rochester Institute of Technology, SUNY College at Buffalo and Salisbury College of Adelaide, South Australia. As a penniless post-grad, Lisa spent several intense months hitchhiking and backpacking her way through the Australian Outback, New Zealand, Indonesia and Tahiti. For three years after, she was a flight attendant for Piedmont Airlines and has since traversed Finland, Russia, Japan, Alaska, Yugoslavia, Portugal, Scotland, France, Mexico, Greece and Turkey.
An accomplished professional designer & illustrator for the last 20 years, Lisa completed creative projects for notable clients such as Cornell University, The Army Corps of Engineers and Laubach Literacy International.
She currently lives in New York with her husband. They return repeatedly to the hiking trails of the American West.
Her work is a combination of passion and perseverance, respect and research.
Art, like travel, is about seeing.
