Carrie Tasman, Corvallis Member Since October 2013 Artist Statement Carrie’s style is style is color-drenched, playful, pattern-full, narrative. Painting from memory and impressions, Carrie creates paintings that are about her world, from flowers from her garden, views of local scenery, fanciful still life arrangements, or a portrait of dogs or cats on a cozy couch. When the composition is formed, Carrie refines and revises the shapes and color to bring a painting into focus, which she says is “very similar to pruning in the garden”.
Tasman lives in the Pacific Northwest where she walks with her two dogs, plies the waters of the Willamette river in her single scull and happily paints throughout the long, rainy winters. Her award winning work is well loved, collected and commissioned worldwide.
Carrie received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and printmaking at Oregon State University and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. After graduating Carrie worked as a graphic designer before starting her career as a full-time artist.
