Farida Zaman, Toronto Member Since January 2007 Artist Statement Farida Zaman’s portfolio of work includes paintings, posters, greeting cards, and ceramics. Her designs have been used for “wearable art” clothing and home furnishings. She has been published extensively as an illustrator of children’s books, designed packaging and gift bags for international retailers, and applied her designs to home products such as crockery, cutlery, glasses, and tableware.
Farida Zaman has been a freelance illustrator and designer for nearly 20 years and has worked in Geneva, London, New York, and Toronto. She has lived in several countries and traveled extensively, with a love of travel, food, music, and people from all over the world. These influences come through in her work and define her style: she is cosmopolitan, appreciates global cultures and multiculturalism, and has a world view.
Farida went to boarding school in England as a teenager and went on to a foundation course at the Chelsea School of Art in London. She graduated at the top of her class with honours from the Wimbledon School of Art. She is a member of the Society of Illustrators in New York and CAPIC (Canadian Association of Photographers and Illustrators in Communication). Farida is married and now lives in Toronto with her daughter, son, and husband, working from her home studio.
