Kristen Anderson, crested butte, colorado Member Since September 2008 Artist Statement I have been producing art since I could hold a crayon (though some might not consider scribbling on the table tops ‘art’, but if you just squint a little, you’ll see something!). I have tried my hand at ceramics, printmaking, jewelry, drawing, sculpture, calligraphy, etc, etc…. I love all art mediums, but I never really found my ‘niche’.
I quit my job when I had my twin boys in 2003, fortunately, because when they slept, I found that I had the time to pick up my brush and try my hand at painting, once again (after 10 years). A friend who owned a pet boutique asked me to paint some dogs for her walls, which got the ball rolling. A year later, I hit the road on the weekends to sell the pet portraits at dog shows, which I loved! I received great feedback so I felt I could expand my subjects to other things like landscapes and flora, etc.
I now feel lucky that people like my form of pop-art. I think it’s fun and I enjoy producing it… that’s what it’s all about (clap-clap!)
