Artist Statement Donna Church is a Canadian artist who draws inspiration from the dynamic interplay of light and shadow in nature.

After many years of working with a variety of techniques and media, Donna developed a fresh and unique method of applying subtle tonal qualities to canvas, paper and other materials.

Using various water-based paints and glazes, she builds layers of translucent washes to create delicate, gradient colours and images. Often underlaid with textural media, her paintings are suffused with a luminescence that hints at nature's rich tapestry of colours, shapes and textures.
