Seem to like patterns so much?

I am trained as a

Mathematician and engineer so I guess I understand why my mind defaults to images and views of patters, but that process seems to be consistent among most people.

What are your thoughts???

I'm just guessing, perhaps its because patterns can be visually and or mentally pleasing with the forms, figures and shapes that can be created, as well as order, as in the order or figure of the pattern or the order of parts creating a whole, and understanding it.
Did I understand your question correctly or am I way off topic.
By the way nice buddy icon.

I create patterns by repeating elements of photographs geometrically.  Doing this for several years has trained me to look for interesting shapes that might be overlooked because they are not the outline of a particular object -- they may be the overlap of a shadow with parts of several objects.  Repeating them brings them into the foreground.  I think a part of the attraction of repetition is that it simply raises attention.  Some orienting part of the brain notes that there are a lot of these things and highlights them.
