My recent story
I was shooting frogs by a small lake in the woods when i felt a tickle on my left leg... A mass of ants were appearing under my feet and gathering up my legs!! I jumped, swept my feet and ran through the forest to a trail!!  I reminded me of a book called `Les fourmis` where a bird gets eaten by ants...
So be carefull in the wild and respect its peace!

I think insects and spiders are amazing in many ways. For their size, if it was to be brought to scale at our size( am I saying this right), many of these tiny beings would be faster and stronger than many or most of our machines. I may be a little off,  but sometimes I will look at an ant and see the time it takes to travel multiple lengths of its own body, and then I think of my size and the things used by humans. It looks like that ant can travel faster than what the average car does covering say 20 times the length of a car.
Also flying insects like a common house fly, when i concentrate on seeing how fast it flies in relationship to its size, its incredibly fast. When a fly starts flying fast, its hard to see it as it whizzes by, and the manoeuvring that it does in flight is incredible.
As well I always get a thrill watching those tiny little hovering flying insects, I think they're called hover flies. The way they hover in the air in one spot, so still, amazing.
Then there are common things spoken about like the spiders silk for its size being stronger than steel, and that an ant can lift I think it's 20 times its own weight.

I am sure the amazing abilities of insects and spiders goes on and on and if anyone has more to share, please do so. To me at least it would be quite interesting.

Sincerely, Luigi Racco.

So I am riding my bicycle one day, taking it easy, doing a comfortable 20kph on the flat. When all of a sudden I hear this buzzing sound from behind me moving around my left ear. I turn my head to the left to see what it is and there's this bee, coming forward from behind me and passing me. It probably happened before but this is the first time I noticed something like this. Could be because of the discussions started up here.

My story involves a very fat bumble bee. one day my sister and i were jogging along the track, i dont know how many laps i'd done but at this point i was so tired my legs were barely moving and i'm just waiting to reach my mark so i can go into a walk. i look up and see this honking large (FAT) slow moving bee... and its chasing me. In slow motion. the sad thing is i  was so tired i could barely stay ahead of it, so i'm ducking and dodging like i'm in the boxing ring, weaving from side to side, going left to right from one side of the track to the other... and still that bee is right on me. meanwhile the other runners are watching me go thru these crazy antics but of course, they can't see that this large bee is chasing me.  somehow, thru skill and deftly stumbling footwork, i  barely managed to escape with my life. i would have laughed at myself... but i was too tired. :)
