Canon 40D
Canon EFS 10-22mm
Canon EFS 17-85mm
Canon EF L 100-400mm this lens is why i don't have money anymore.

I really like the 10-22mm lens because I think that sometimes with the 1.6x sensor like on most entry level Canon cameras you can't get the scale of some of the places your taking pictures of.  It also offers visual effects that really make pictures that people look at and wonder how you got that picture.  I have found that some people love wide angle photography and some don't.  I must say I just got my first L lens and its been really hard to take off of my 40D.  It seems to offer such a huge scale of zoom options that I have not been able to get with my two other lenses.

Steven whats your opinion of L lenses are they worth the price?  Can you see the difference in your photos?

Others in the group I would love to hear your opinions about gear and what you have found works good for shooting barns

I absolutely do see a difference with an "L" series lens on my camera, and that's why the 70-200mm L spends so much time attached to it.  Better clarity, better color, better everything as far as I'm concerned.  I don't want to take anything away from the 60mm macro prime, or the 85mm 1.8 prime, because those two are also fantastic lenses which I love to use.  I've seen reviews of some "L" series lenses that users weren't too happy with, but it's rare and they're usually being extremely picky.

A great place for user reviews (the best kind of reviews) is at http://www.FredMiranda.com .  Serious photographers give honest reviews of all kinds of different equipment there, and I went there before I bought each of my lenses.  It's nice to be able to read about something you're considering spending money on after someone else has already taken the plunge!

I am new to Imagekind and want to thank you for having a group devoted to these wondrous structures. I now reside in Cincinnati, Ohio but was born and raised in North Carolina where I had the blessing of living near several farms. I too share a healthy respect for our country's beautiful barns that have withstood the test of time and neglect. In fact, that is the focus of much of my artwork. The images in your group are all photographs so I haven't added them to the group images, but please view my work at http://twpeoples.imagekind.com/  I would love some comments.

hi, from Ohio, about 1/2 an hr from Cleveland in the rural part so there are plenty of barns and farms here
hoping to upgrade the body as soon as Ohio economy gets out of the pit it's in but what i am using now are:
canon rebel xt, ( I was waiting till the 50d came out but now probably it'll be the 70d :))
canon 28-135 IS( actually have a pretty good copy since the IS on first one stopped working in a short time and i twisted the imaginary arm of canon when they replaced it and the body after a 6 month hassle, both still  were under warranty,  to make sure the copy was sharp),
canon 50mm f1.8( auto focus stinks for wide aps. but it is tack sharp at the narrow end, evidently it didn't read any reviews on it's self since most say the opposite) i really enjoy using this lens
tokina 10-17 fisheye( 17 is more fish"less" on my camera so i use the 17 end for landscapes, sharp lens but some chromation)
canon 70-200 f4 L...which i just dropped and dented the connection  last week ( urgg) so that will be taking a trip to canon to get fixed.
looking for a good low light wider zoom and a macro since mine broke ( third party100mm, i can manual focus it for macro but won't auto at all or focus on anything over  a foot and a half away! never ever broke a lens and have wrecked 2 in the past 2 months)
i agree about the L lenses. imo it's just not worth getting a cheap as in "badly reviewed" ( ie "good for the price" ) lens, i always regret it. also agree on fredmiranda, great source, so far has never steered me wrong. imo cost is not  the only factor but if it's reviewed badly by most it probaby stinks
