Hi all,

I am just wondering where everyone got their pictures for cattle call?  When you were taking the picture did you see anything interesting that the animals did?

Hi Matthew,

The two images of the calves and steers that I've included were taken in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada.  I did notice that the animals were inseparable and travelled around in pairs. Also, they seemed very certain that I should be supplementing their grazing diet, which I did of course- corn stalks really got their attention!

All the Best,
Will

Hi Matthew and Will,

Nice images! My images are all from animals that either live with me or somewhere relatively close by. Probably most notable in the category of what these animals were doing that was interesting would be the black bull that I did a painting of. He was surly and in a rather territorial and bad mood - bellowing, pawing, charging at me and chasing me around the truck - much to the amusement of my friend (safely ensconced in the truck while I was trying to get the photos that would later become the paintings I did).

Best wishes!

Melissa

My bison and longhorn images where taken in Plano, Texas. We were driving around and saw this small herd in a fenced pasture. Upon closer inspection I noticed that there was a very unusual animal grazing with the herd. It appeared to be a hybrid resulting from the crossbreading of the bison and longhorn! I do not know what it is called, but would love to know. The horses were photographed at a friend's ranch in Alpine, Arizona. They raise miniature herefords, and the cattle and horses are great friends. While I was doing a portrait shoot for the ranch owner (see images in AmericanCowboy gallery) the bull "Guage" came up to his horse "Scooter" and began licking his nose!! We all cracked up, because Robert was trying to get a picture of him rounding up the cattle!!  It was pretty funny... ;-)

A lot of my animal images are of my own pets or of friend's pets.  Some of them I take at shows.

I just added two horse pictures I took on my way home from work.

I had just bought my camera a few weeks before, and I decided to go on a nice weather phototrip. Amidst all the rush of the two cities I traveled between (Amsterdam and Haarlem), I stumbled upon this oasis of tranquility with those peacefully grazing beauties. I just had to stop and shoot the horses...

with my camera, of cause... :)

P.S. For those of you that didn't realise it: I live in the Netherlands ;)
