Artist's description of "Rock Pile"

Hiking along the water's edge of Lake Superior on a cold autumn day, I came upon one rock pile after another.  They seemed to be trying to communicate a message to me of which I was ignorant in interpreting the meaning.  They were fascinating in their varied formations and I wondered who created them.  A question that would always remain unanswered.
