A very insightful article on the wisdom of investing stimulus money in the many "shovel-ready" projects in the National Park system:

Any pet projects you'd like to see undertaken?  I, for one, would like to see the train that once served Yosemite via El Portal resurrected.

On a related note, I've been reading a great book on the "Mission 66" program that revitalized the parks back during the mid-century leading up to the NPS's 50th anniversary in 1966.  Highly recommended for anyone interested in learning more about the history of the NPS:
