Description This is the cottage that my father-in-law was brought up in. It is in a state of distress and I thought it would make an excellent subject for Black & White. I have treid to recreate the grain effect that you get with traditional black & white film that I used to work with such a Ilford FP4.
Simon Curtis, Riyadh Member Since April 2008 Artist Statement I am professionally a structural engineer but one of my passions is art and particularly photography. The advent of digital imaging has allowed me to explore my art far beyond just taking pictures so that what I am creating is closer to what I see in my minds eye. My influences are some of the master artists such as Turner but more closely my mother who painted the most wonderful skies and seas with such vivid colours.
I love the countryside around me and my art hopefully reflects that.
I am currently using a Nikon D40 DSLR with a range of lenses. Some of my earlier work is on film camera and scanned (Pentax K1000) and other point and shoot digitals such as a kodak V550 and Olympus camedia.
