Lisa Snellings, Palm Springs Member Since November 2011 Artist Statement Few artists are as fully realized while remaining so self-contained as Lisa Snellings. Lisa is a storyteller. Her creations have a back-story, a life, and a future. She doesn't just sculpt a figure, she molds an entire life experience, using just about any materials imaginable. Her kinetic Dark Carnival suite is an installation at the American Visionary Art Museum In Baltimore, Maryland.
Currently she is inspiring acclaimed authors for a "Strange"series. Already available are Strange Birds by Gene Wolfe, Strange Roads by Peter S. Beagle, and Strange Light By Larry Niven, Others will include works by Neil Gaiman, Patrick Rothfuss, and Charle de Lint.
Her widely collected "Poppets"(see PoppetPlanet.com) while undeniably whimsical, hold deeper meaning when viewed en toto. Lisa's work is provocative. Sometimes silly, sometimes macabre, always interesting.
