Debbie Diamond, Liverpool
Member Since July 2011
Artist Statement Debbie is a Liverpool born artist with a passion for drawing and all things creative. As a little girl she spent hours drawing with coloured crayons from a biscuit tin. She graduated from Manchester Polytechnic with a degree in Illustration, tutored by the infamous children's book illustrator Tony Ross, in the late eighties. Her published works include a collection of greeting cards and a book. Debbie works mainly in watercolour, ink pen, silk paints, pastels and acrylics. She has a charming, humorous and distinctive calligraphic ink pen style, which is suited to children's book illustration and caricature.

Favourite artists, movements and Illustrators include John Ireland, Norman Rockwell, Winsor McCay, Lucien Freud, The Pre- Raphaelites, Art Nouveau and The Impressionists.

Debbie is also a semi-retired primary school teacher, with a comprehensive knowledge of the National Curriculum, for which she has designed a range of educational worksheets. Her artwork with children from deprived backgrounds contributed to her achieving Threshold status in 2002.
She is inspired by rich, multicultural and spiritual themes, ancient civilizations and stories.
Please feel free to contact her for private commissions.
