Artist Statement Having lived in the beautiful State of Colorado most of my life, the idea of painting its diverse beauty never entered my mind, although I enjoyed some forms of art throughout my youth. No, I decided I was going to become a travel agent! Went to school, got my degree and prompty became a secretary because the pay was better at the time. Then life took off and art took a back seat. I got married, went to Bible school, had two children and worked part-time. Today, I'm happily still married to my husband of 27 years, my two kids are grown and in college and I'm an unemployed office manager/bookkeeper. About 6 years ago I picked up the paintbrush and began learning many techniques about painting. Focusing on acrylics, I now enjoy painting lanscapes, but not of the mountains, although they are merely 20 miles away. I love to paint landscapes of the ocean, capturing the play of light on the water or the motion of the waves upon the beach. I enjoy the colors of the sunsets splashing across the sky. Because of this, I created a series of paintings called "The Spirit Within Lighthouse Collection" which shows that God has given us the spirit of "Peace," "Joy," "Hope," "Love," "Faith," and "Patience" to endure all that life throws at us. And it is through the hope and faith in Christ that I live my life and continue to paint for His glory!
