Artist Statement Growing up under the foot of my father who was a successful small town commercial artist in the 50's, made a strong impression on me. Watching him paint was a daily experience.

My mother was an artist in her own right. Her medium was flowers. As a wartime bride with 3 small children, she paved the way for us girls by providing a strong, independent and competent role model. She owned and ran Christopherson Flowers until she retired well into her 70's.

Following in my mother's footsteps, I started my career in the floral business. Designing flower arrangements for over 30 years gave me a great foundation in color and design. But the memories of my Dad working with paint and brush continued to be a strong part of me.So when the youngest of my 4 children graduated from high school and headed to college, I was inspired to join him. In 1990 I entered the University of South Dakota as a freshman art student. Upon graduation in 1994 I began a new career teaching art to High school students. I retired in 2008 to give myself the chance to have one more career, making art on a full time basis.
I work in a variety of mediums; 'hand made' clay vessels and wall pieces, mixed media and photography, but this site only shows my paintings. If you would like to see photos of some of my clay work, please contact me via my email dianeradack8@googlemail.com My web site can be found at http://dradack.finerworks.com
