Artist Statement There was a summer in my life where the only thing that seemed lovelier to me than my pet frog was my neighbor's horse. I use to run home after school to pull some of the fresh grasses that grew up along the fense line to feed to Sam (as I called him). Sam would always meet me at the fence in my back yard at 3:00. Sam became one of my portraits. Memories are like an abstract painting - it does not represent things as they are, but rather as they feel. As an artist I attempt to convey not only the feeling but the essence and unique qualities of my subject. I work mostly in acrylic, oil, graphite, and charcoal. My greatest inspiration is my father. He was one of the most creative people I have ever known. That creativity was reflected in every aspect of his life, as I feel it is in mine.
