Description I remember trying this appetizer for the first time on New Year's Day, 2006. It was on the menu at a New Orleans soul food restaurant called the Praline Connection, and my companions and I ordered it more out of curiosity than anything else. Truth be told, none of us really expected it to be any good, and ordered a fried Okra appetizer with that prospect in mind. We all ended up being pleasantly surprised. After tasting first one, and then a second to be sure that I wasn't hallucinating, the group of people I was with tore into them with gusto, only diving into the okra after we had devoured the fried pickles. The second time I tried fried pickles was at the same place during Mardi Gras 2008. I'm pleased to say that they were every bit as good as I remember them being the first time.
