Description This image is sort of surrealistic yet resulted again from listening to radio reports and talk shows about the developing economic crisis back around 2008. In the background you see some other images entitled; A Wall Street Tizzy, It's A Drowning War Zone Out There, and Bull to the Slaughterhouse. These images are also here in my gallery for viewing to get a better understanding and closer detail of this composition that includes these images as part of the entire story. The object here with a bear head and nude figure symbolizes the incident where many people lost a lot of money and were stripped bare of either their savings for retirement or home housing and equity value declines. You see a shark in the painting symbolizing the transparent exposure of a lot of stock market fraud that was uncovered during this time era. The idea of the image in the top right side is an abstract expression of how some people were in the fight at the time of crisis in stock and commodity markets profiting from the misfortunes of others. This might be evident from the rising commodity prices of oil that resulted in over $4.00 per gallon price of gasoline at the pumps. This idea started as a pencil drawing on paper that was scanned onto computer where a digital image painting was created with Corel Painter. This is a Poster Design version of the painting.
Stephen Lo Piano, Rochester, New York Member Since October 2008 Artist Statement I have been interested in art since high school back in the late 1960's when I took up career training for commercial art. Continued learning traditional media artwork through a private school by mail correspondence for Advertising and Illustration Art. During the mid and late 1970's decided to abandoned my interest in finding a career in art since nothing was leading to anything that would create substantial income to make a living. Continued education in the military and after service pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. During this time my sights were still set on continuing art on available time and spent many hours working in volunteer activities while attending junior college along with an art gallery in the local community. Started free lancing again in the 1980's while employed full time in another occupation and sold a few things yet still nothing for a permanent career. In the year 2004 after ten years of no productivity in art I stumbled across graphic arts and started to learn this type of technology. Since then I have found a sincere interest in learning and pursuing through trial and error and practice on my own time. Here in this gallery you will see a sample of my results.
