Description Digital painting created by Second Glance Digital Art. Two photos are merged together to create a vision of a castle guarded by a winged dragon. The gorgeous background exposes the chaos that baby stars are creating 1,500 light-years away in a cosmic cloud called the Orion nebula. This striking image indicates that four monstrously massive stars at the center of the cloud may be the main culprits in the familiar Orion constellation. The stars are collectively called the 'Trapezium.' The Orion nebula is the brightest spot in the sword of the Orion, or the 'Hunter' constellation. The cosmic cloud is also our closest massive star-formation factory, and astronomers believe it contains more than 1,000 young stars. The Orion constellation is a familiar sight in the fall and winter night sky in the northern hemisphere. The nebula is invisible to the unaided eye, but can be resolved with binoculars or small telescopes. *Photo credit: This design was possible in part thanks to the images taken and allowed for me to use by NASAs Hubble Space Telescope. LeAnn Lunzer, St. Paul, Mn Member Since April 2013 Artist Statement I have lived, worked and visited many cities and states in America and have found beauty in every corner of our country. I enjoy the simple things, and feel closer to God when I take time to appreciate the details. I have dabbled in just about every medium I can think of and have always considered myself an artist since I first picked up a crayon. I really enjoy photographing nature and then transforming those photos into digital paintings with my computer.
I have sold my art and crafts at boutiques and craft shows around the state. I hope my art will inspire you to stop and take a second glance at the beauty that surrounds us; all the colors, shapes and variety of life that is right outside our door if we just stop for a moment to look for it.
