Description The number of shops that sell all types of catholic and christian idols abound and throughout Fatima, are truly religion out of control. It's idolatry and superstition at its greediest. The church here shows its ugliest, exploitative, and most corrupt side, everywhere you look. This image is part of my idolatry exhibit, which expresses a criticism over the hypocrisy, idolatry, and pure greed shown by the Catholic Church in Fatima.copyright2005 Franco Esteve. Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary. --Leviticus 26:12, King James Bible''All the people took off the golden rings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. He received what they handed him, and fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it a molten calf;.... The Lord spoke to Moses, Go, get down; for your people, who you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves!' -- Exodus 32:3-4, 7'Jesus entered into the temple of God, and drove out all of those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the money changers' tables and the seats of those who sold the doves. He said to them, It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of robbers! -- Mathew 21: 12-13
Franco Esteve, Nowhere Member Since July 2008 Artist Statement My life has existed throughout this planet, growing up everywhere and nowhere. I belong to no place and I wouldn't have it any other way. Moving around, one begins to see things and appreciate one's environment, the beauty, the details, the ordinary and the extraordinary. Photography has been a stalwart passion throughout my life, and I love to explore different views and concepts, as well as simply capturing this extraordinary world.
Thank you for shopping. I truly hope you enjoy the images and the prints. :)
