Description As a Plein Air painter I am constantly exploring the countryside for beautiful painting. I look for the sublime, something timeless that stands to remind us of how beautiful this world really is. This Impressionist painting of the Sedona landscape is that kind of painting. With influences of William Wendt and Edward Degas this captures the fading light of evening and the waning color of the deep gold and red of the cliff side.
Kevin McCain, Boise Member Since June 2011 Artist Statement I am a professional artist and children's book illustrator. In my paintings I use vibrant colors and thick impasto to give my paintings a life and vitality that capture the viewer’s attention. I strive for a dreamy quality to my paintings. To make them more reminiscent of memories rather than an illustration of a particular scene. The impression of the landscape is more important than the actual content.
