Description I met Jakob while island hopping outside of Bali. I was traveling between Lebongan Island and Penida Island when one of the pump boat passengers accidently released a 6ft cobra snake from his bag. Everyone jumped away from the snake but Jakob calmly moved forward and began to charm the snake with a weaving hand. Just as I thought the cobra would strike, Jakob reached behind the cobra's head with his other hand and grabbed it's head. I was amazed and just had to know more.We disembarked on Penida Island and I offered Jakob a drink if he would tell me his story. Jakob was 18 years old and had been catching venomous snakes since he was a small boy. His body is powerful yet lean from the rigors of climbing trees to find snakes. He has hopes of becoming a sailor so he can travel the world but his family cannot afford send him abroad. Jakob offered to show me how he hunts for snakes if I would let him have copies of the photos from the hunt. It didn't take long before I found myself in the middle of a full photoshoot in 35C jungle heat with what felt like 120% humidity. When I left Jakob I had a serious appreciatiation for snake wranglers and a memory card full of amazing photos. Thanks Jakob for an great photo shoot.
