Description Kata Tjuta - mysterious and beautiful. Here standing across the desert in the late afternoon. The trees in the foreground are desert oaks. They have a tap-root that goes down hundres of metres until it finds the water table. The trees grow slowly and live for a very long time - the large ones you see here are probably a hundred years old. Fitting companions for ancient and inscrutable rocks such as these.
