Artist Statement James Rushing completed the Walter Foster SEASCAPES AND lANDSCAPES art course; Completed Kevin McPhearson's Reflections On A Pond composition and colors course; completed the De Beard Dean plein air course; studied "on line" with William Hawkins, Alan Kingwell, Wilson Bickford and John Rushing
Since 1968, James and Linda Rushing have owned and operated retail stores, featuring their leather designs, in Utica, New York City, Boston, Key West Florida, Oklahoma City, and, for the last 30 years they owned and operated a retail leather goods shop in Laguna Beach, CA. James and Linda were awarded three patents for leather handbags. Selling them at art shows for 15 years gave them the opportunity to contribute to the establishment of Paseo Street, an "art street" in Oklahoma City, Union Street, an "art street," in Pasadena, CA and Laguna Village Arts Center in Laguna Beach, CA. James is author of "Liberty Street," a novel about the revival of an "art street." James and Linda were organizers and video makers for Save Laguna Canyon in Orange County, Ca., helping to complete a "Green Belt" around Laguna Beach.
