Artist Statement Founder and Owner of HillView Photography, Matt Hill began taking photos as a hobby through the streets of Charleston, South Carolina. He eventually turned his freelance photography talent into an up-and-coming business, based shortly outside of Philadelphia, PA. Born and raised as a Philadelphia native, Matt plans to travel the country for the unsurpassed photographs, illustrating the famous iconic scenes, and searching for the country’s old dirt roads, all to be displayed within your home.
Graduate and alum of the College of Charleston, Matt completed his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Finance, along with a minor in Historic Preservation and Community Planning in 2011. At the College, he was a four-year varsity rower for the school, and often comments that, “practice is where I learned discipline, patience, and hard work.” One of the most influential people thus far for Matt, whether as a photographer or collegiate athlete, is his former coach, Travis Landrith. Known as a person who accepts nothing less than success, Travis helped Matt become the photographer he is today through continued support and guidance.
Matt's parents, Ellen and Greg, have also been tremendously significant throughout his journey. "It is truly amazing the encouragement and support that my parents have shown me, each and every day they remind me that I have what it takes to pursue my goals as a photographer." With Matt’s passion and drive to excel as a photographer, he hopes to capture and express to the public, the serenity and tranquility he experiences with each and every photograph.
