Description This banyan tree was planted at the entrance to the City of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida by John D. MacArthur over 80 years ago. This oil painting depicts the southeast view, before Hurricanes Frances, Jean, and Wilma. Much of the foliage was lost in the storms but most has now grown back.
Betty Laur, Palm Beach Gardens Member Since January 2008 Artist Statement Living in a tropical climate in South Florida, my paintings reflect the birds, plants, and other animals found in this area. I began painting in the 1960's but have only worked at it seriously during the past 10 years, and now I paint almost every day. The subjects I most enjoy painting are beautiful skies and pet portraits.
