Artist Statement My art explores ideas of home and belonging. I depict these ideas through mixed media works, which begin as sketches. Through observations of nature I have been able to see the many ways in which we are connected to it and are a part of it.
My work looks at the importance of home to all living creatures and what happens to us when we are left without a place to call home. How do we cope? Can we overcome the obstacles? Can we find a way to feel safe and at peace?

I use subjects such as birds, trees, seedpods and leaves, to create symbols and tell stories. I believe nature can provide us with many answers, if we pay attention. We are surrounded by it every day.
