Fluttering My heart is cursed with sentient antennae, all feathers, alert to waves so trifling the very cosmos barely shudders at their rippling, so finely tuned the slightest waft of disenchantment registers with thunderous resonance across my spirit. Oh, for the leathern hide of vast gray giants; careless Titans, roaming the savannah, sunbaked, heedless of any disturbance less tumultuous than the earth being split asunder, lightning-sparked infernos or the killing machines of men. Alas, my heart is wingd, soft and fragile, dusted iridescent, shy of capture, damned antennae quivering silent, wired and restless at every signal, be it drops of nectar sweet or whispered warning. Somewhere a silver net of softest silk awaits me. Will this heart discern its shining welcome, or retreat, affrighted, from the haven offered? 2010 RC deWinter ~ All Rights Reserved
