Imagekind Releases Improved Search and New Image Classification
Imagekind Improvements
We have just released Version 1.1 of our improved search functionality, which is now live on the site! Thank you to all those who have given excellent feedback on how we can continue to improve Imagekind together. We have been hard at work updating a few of our most important site features, which are sure to help improve the overall experience for both customers and artists who help make Imagekind the premier art site that it is. The enhanced search features demonstrate a significant step forward in our pursuit to providing the best artist community for buying, selling and creating art.Some key highlights that we are truly thrilled about include:
- More relevant search results
- Faster search returns
- Improved multi-word search matches
- Larger thumbnails that gives artists' work the attention it deserves
- Separate search returns based on relevant artists' names and artwork
- Pro and Platinum artists' images are visually differentiated
- Images from Pro and Platinum artists get an increased bump in search results
To help make search even more relevant and robust, we are also introducing a new way to categorize your images: Taxonomy. If you already have images on the site, nothing will change until you decide to update them. These changes are sure to help customers find the artwork they are looking for faster and more efficiently.
Stay tuned, because shortly we will also be unveiling a new way to navigate Imagekind. The improved navigation will enable shoppers to browse member artwork by Subject, Genre, and Medium; all based on your selections with the newly built Taxonomy. By creating general categories for art, we hope to provide more accurate search results than tags alone can provide.
Key changes in image classification:
- We give artists the control to choose how their art is represented
- Member images can now be classified by subject, genre, medium and create date
- The number of subjects available per image is limited based on your account type
- Images from Free accounts can be classified in 2 subjects
- Images from Pro accounts will have 4 subjects maximum
- Images from Platinum accounts will have a maximum of 8 subjects
- The number of tags per image is now more refined allowing for more precise search returns
- Free Accounts are given a 10 tag limit per image
- Pro Accounts will be able to have 50 tags per image
- Platinum account holders will have 100 tags per image
