Description I often feel the most relaxed when i am floating aong the water, especially after a tiring swim. These feelings don't last though. Theres always a time when you have to get out (whatever your age), and your skin gets really wrinkly. I am always amazed at the different textures and colours possible with water and light. Often very different dependent on the location. This piece was inspired by my curious fascination with water, scarred and fragmented by my frustrations with its illusions and refractions. It bends the light to its will, and decieves the eye. Here i like the contrast i've made between admiring the textures of water i've recreated and the strikes on this without causing the ripples and disturbance which are an inherent consequence.

Artist Statement I (Lex) am a student currently studying in london. Art has always been a hobby mine but has too often conflicted with a lack of training and skill on my part to draw. This all changed when i found i was able to express my artistic qualities using digital programmes.

I have felt rewarded by the art i have created and inspired by comments form my piers i have loaded these onto a gallery. I would be greatly encouraged even if one were to sell, or even if it generated a significant level of viewing. For me, this would add to a sense of accomplishment in these simple creations.

What i love about these pieces is that they reflect my own inner qualities and feelings. it is this aspect that brings about my satisfaction with them. I don't feel that they will shatter the art world wth their dynamic genius and precise technique. However, they do simply express a sentament which would be hard to put into words. With art you can convey many things at once to form an instant impression, in the same way you would set the scene with music- far quicker than a paragraph of words.
