Description The USS Constitution is the oldest commissioned ship in existence. It still sets sail each year and fires a 21 cannon salute in honor of those who fought for our country. In the War of 1812 it defeated several supposedly unbeatable British ships. Because its outer hull was made of green oak the cannonballs bounced off of it. The stories of Old Ironsides enchanted me from my youth. This made it a pleasure to paint this as a gift for my Pastor who served as a chaplain in the military for many years.
