Artist Statement

Minimalism is in my soul, in my daily life, my relationships and my art. It's simplistic nature is what attracts me to it as it offers no clutter, no outside distraction, just purity. You can think clearly when you look at a piece of minimal art. The simplicity of space, colour and line. It's beauty lies in it's absence of extraneous matter.

I'm attracted to abstraction for a number of reasons, but mainly because of abstract art's ability to have altered or contrasting meanings to each individual viewer. I find that empowering and am fascinated by how abstraction brings out a person's creativity and imagination. There is a certain curiosity that a piece of abstract art emits and it never gets tired and is always fresh and uplifting.

My work is about life, it's about love, it's about people, their passions, their fears, thoughts and nature. One of my greatest joys is to evoke a reaction from my art. It could be as simple as a smile or as complex as a long deep contemplative thought. The titles of my pieces reflect the characteristics or emotions that I'm striving to get people to think about, characteristics that I feel are important and try to work into my life.
