Description Off the Islands of Galiano and Mayne in British Columbia there is a fierce body of water. The pass is a busy though fair for the BC Ferrys. In the summer months the resident orca pods cruise the pass eating salmon. Their schedule is erratic . Any sighting is a cause for great excitement .On this day we were returning from a 3 day boating trip up North, less than 1 mile from home our boat limping from a broken manifold. The water was churning with full force. The whales were feeding on salmon and riding the ferry wake.I was falling all over trying to capture the shot without getting to close. In this photo the whale is spyhopping.
